A Botanical Wedding at The Kingscote Barn: Sasha & Jack’s Living Plant Wedding Décor
Author: Georgina Oliver / Published: 01/10/2026
Sasha and Jack’s Kingscote Barn wedding was a gorgeous celebration filled with living greenery, tropical plants and little pops of orange — all set against the incredible Gloucestershire countryside.
When Sasha and Jack first came to us, they knew one thing for certain: they wanted lots of plants at their wedding.
Their beautiful July wedding at The Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire became our first wedding at this gorgeous Cotswolds venue and gave us the perfect opportunity to show just how much impact living plant décor can create when it’s carefully designed, styled and then reused throughout the day.
From an outdoor ceremony surrounded by greenery at One Tree Hill to a complete plant changeover for their indoor wedding breakfast, we used the same collection of living plants to create two completely different moments.
And the best bit?
While their guests enjoyed the drinks reception, we quietly moved everything.
Sasha and Jack didn’t have to lift a finger, in fact, they told us afterwards that the transition was so seamless they didn’t even see it happen.
Here’s how we created their leafy wedding day
A Botanical Kingscote Barn Wedding on a Beautiful Summer’s Day
Set in the Cotswolds near Tetbury, Kingscote Barn is a beautiful restored Cotswold-stone wedding venue surrounded by countryside and valley views.
The neutral interior, stone walls and natural light make the barn something of a blank canvas for wedding styling, while couples can choose between indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces.
Sasha and Jack chose One Tree Hill for their ceremony which is one of the venue’s outdoor ceremony locations, overlooking the surrounding countryside.
For us, it was our first time styling a wedding at The Kingscote Barn.
And we absolutely fell in love with it.
The open spaces, stone walls, balcony, beautiful lawn and those incredible views gave us so much to work with. There’s also accommodation right there at the venue, which makes the whole setting feel like its own little wedding world.
But, naturally, we immediately started thinking:
Where can we put the plants?
Sasha & Jack's Botanical Wedding Vision
Sasha and Jack first discovered Botanical Weddings at Rebel Love Fair and enquired with us in April 2026 ahead of their July wedding.
From our first conversations, they knew they wanted greenery to play a big part in the day.
They originally came to us with quite a long plant wish list, which we loved!
But one of the things we explained was that the Botanical Weddings approach works slightly differently from ordering individual plants specifically for one event.
Where possible, we work with our existing collection of living plants, selecting the plants that will create the right overall shape, texture, height and feeling rather than promising an exact variety months in advance.
That’s an important part of the way we try to make our wedding plant hire more sustainable.
Plants grow.
They change.
Some look incredible one month and need a little rest the next.
So instead of forcing nature to fit a shopping list, we design around the beautiful living collection we have available at the time.
Thankfully, Sasha and Jack completely understood what we were trying to achieve and trusted us to bring their vision to life.
There was, however, one colour we knew we wanted to weave through everything:
Orange. 🧡
Sasha and Jack absolutely love Birds of Paradise flowers and would have loved to include their incredible orange blooms in the styling.
There was just one little problem: when you’re working with living plants, nature gets the final say!
We explained that while we could absolutely include Bird of Paradise plants, the chances of having one in our collection flowering at exactly the right time for their wedding were very slim. And because our approach is centred around living plants rather than bringing in cut flowers to achieve a particular look, we started thinking about how we could capture the same feeling in a different way.
The answer was orange bromeliads.
Their bright tropical colour gave us that gorgeous flash of orange Sasha and Jack loved, while still allowing us to create the wedding entirely with living plants.
It’s actually a lovely example of how we work at Botanical Weddings. Rather than trying to force nature to fit an exact brief, we take the colours, textures and feeling our couples love and find a way to interpret them using living plants that work beautifully on the day.
And, as you’ll see, those little pops of orange ended up being one of our favourite details of the whole wedding.
Working With Their Wedding Décor Budget
Something Sasha and Jack did brilliantly was tell us their budget from the beginning.
We always appreciate this.
It doesn’t mean we’re going to try to spend every penny of it. It means we can be realistic about what’s achievable and work out where that budget will create the greatest impact.
Their original plant wish list would have required more plants than their budget allowed.
So rather than spreading their décor too thinly across the entire venue, we concentrated on the areas that mattered most.
For Sasha and Jack, that meant making the outdoor ceremony the botanical showstopper.
And then we had a plan for making those plants work twice as hard…
Their Botanical Weddings Bronze Package
Sasha and Jack chose our Bronze Package.
Their styling included two large standing plant arrangements, aisle plants and living plant décor that could later be repurposed for their reception.
For their One Tree Hill ceremony, we created two statement arrangements using plants at varying heights to produce lots of layers, shape and texture.
We combined palms, ferns and tropical foliage, with gorgeous orange bromeliads bringing little flashes of colour through all that green.
And those bromeliads?
They were probably one of our favourite details of the entire wedding.
Against the greenery and the Gloucestershire countryside, that pop of orange looked so good.
Potted ferns then lined the aisle, using the existing blocks at the venue to create a beautiful pathway towards the ceremony.
It felt abundant and botanical without trying to compete with that incredible view.
Styling an Outdoor Ceremony at One Tree Hill
Of course, there is one tiny complication when you’re styling an outdoor wedding ceremony on top of a hill in England.
The weather.
And on Sasha and Jack’s wedding day…
It was windy. 😂
Very windy.
Thankfully, we met one of the lovely gardeners at The Kingscote Barn while we were setting everything up, who came to our rescue with some additional stones to help us make sure everything stayed exactly where it was supposed to.
The wind also means some of our setup photographs are slightly more windswept than we’d planned!
But that’s weddings.
You plan everything you possibly can, work with what the day throws at you and make sure the couple never needs to worry about what’s happening behind the scenes.
Once everything was in place and we stood back to look at it, we had that lovely little:
YES. This works.
moment.
One Set of Wedding Plants. Two Completely Different Looks.
This was where Sasha and Jack’s wedding became particularly clever.
Instead of hiring one collection of plants for their ceremony and another collection for their reception, they added our wedding décor changeover service.
At the time, this cost an additional £150.
Their ceremony took place at 2pm.
Once they’d said their I dos and everyone had moved away to enjoy the drinks reception, our team got to work.
We had approximately 30–45 minutes to take the plants from the outdoor ceremony at One Tree Hill and completely restyle them inside the barn ready for the wedding breakfast.
The large arrangements could be repositioned around their sweetheart-table area and reception space, while the potted ferns that had lined the ceremony aisle became table décor.
Suddenly, the same plants had a completely different job.
And by around 3pm, the changeover was complete.
Why We LOVE a Wedding Décor Changeover
There are three big reasons we love doing this.
It makes your wedding décor budget work harder.
Instead of paying for enough plants to style two spaces simultaneously, one collection can create multiple looks throughout the day.
It can reduce the amount of décor required.
For Sasha and Jack, reusing the same plants meant we could create impact without bringing an entirely separate collection for the reception.
Fewer plants also meant less to transport to and from the venue and fewer plants requiring preparation and post-wedding care.
And most importantly: you don’t have to do it.
We never want our couples finishing their ceremony and immediately wondering who has remembered to move the ferns.
Sasha and Jack were off celebrating with their guests while we transformed the next space.
Their review afterwards contained perhaps the best compliment we could have received:
They didn’t even see us do it.
What Happened to the Plants After the Wedding?
Almost everything we used for Sasha and Jack’s wedding came from our existing living plant collection.
The exception was those gorgeous orange bromeliads we’d selected to bring their colour palette into the plant styling.
And their story didn’t finish at the wedding either.
Afterwards, they returned with us to Löv Leaf, our plant shop, and were eventually sold to their new homes.
The rest of the plants returned to our collection as usual.
They were unloaded, checked and given any post-wedding care they needed, ready to continue growing and potentially head out to another celebration.
The pots were returned too, ready to be used again.
It’s a lovely example of what we mean when we talk about reusable wedding décor.
The plants weren’t grown to be cut for one installation and thrown away afterwards.
They had a life before Sasha and Jack’s wedding.
They were part of their day.
And then they carried on living afterwards. 🌱
What Sasha & Jack Said About Botanical Weddings
And then, after the wedding, this landed in our inbox.
We might have got a little emotional.
“Steph and the team at Botanical Weddings were amazing. They are genuinely lovely people, took the time to understand our vision and make it work within our budget.
On the day I was blown away by how it all looked. The plants were in such good condition, that a guest even thought they were too good to be real.
Steph and the team stayed on site to move our outdoor ceremony plants to our indoor wedding breakfast and the transition was absolutely seamless – we didn’t even see it happen!
We loved that Steph took the time to visit our venue ahead of the day too – it gave us that extra reassurance that everything would run smoothly.
And from start to finish, they were super responsive, never added any pressure on and we knew we were in safe hands.
Thank you so much – everything was leafy perfection x”
Hearing that someone thought our plants were too good to be real might be one of our favourite compliments yet. 😂🌿
But what meant even more was hearing that Sasha and Jack felt they were in safe hands.
Wedding styling should be the fun bit.
You should be able to walk into your ceremony, see everything finished and simply enjoy it — without knowing about the van loading, the plant preparation, the wind, the emergency stones or the team quietly shifting a small jungle across your venue while you’re having a drink.
That’s our job.
Planning a Botanical Wedding at The Kingscote Barn?
Having now styled our first wedding at The Kingscote Barn, we can completely understand why couples fall in love with this venue.
And we’re already heading back for another wedding!
For couples considering plant hire at The Kingscote Barn, our biggest piece of advice would be to think about your wedding day as a whole rather than treating the ceremony and reception as completely separate spaces.
With the right planning, plants used at One Tree Hill or another ceremony space can potentially be repurposed elsewhere after you’ve said your vows.
That might mean using ceremony aisle plants as table décor, moving statement arrangements behind a sweetheart or top table, or creating a second botanical focal point inside the barn.
It’s good for your budget, reduces the amount of décor required and means the plants you’ve chosen get to be part of more of your day.
FAQs: Wedding Plant Hire at The Kingscote Barn
Can you hire living plants for a wedding at The Kingscote Barn?
Yes. Botanical Weddings provides real living plant hire and botanical wedding styling, and we’ve now styled weddings at The Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire.
Can wedding plants be moved from the ceremony to the reception?
Yes, depending on your timings, venue layout and chosen styling. Sasha and Jack added our changeover service, allowing us to move their outdoor ceremony plants inside during their drinks reception.
Is a wedding décor changeover worth it?
It can be a brilliant way to make your décor budget work harder. Instead of hiring separate décor for the ceremony and reception, suitable pieces can be used twice during the day.
Can you style an outdoor wedding ceremony with real plants?
Absolutely. We use potted living plants for indoor and outdoor wedding styling where the plants, venue and weather conditions are suitable. Outdoor installations do require extra planning around weather, access and stability.
Do we need to choose exact plant varieties?
Not necessarily. Our sustainable approach is based around working primarily with our existing living plant collection. We’ll discuss the overall style, colours and feeling you’re looking for and select suitable plants from the collection available for your wedding.
Can Botanical Weddings visit our wedding venue beforehand?
For some weddings, a venue visit can be a valuable part of the planning process. We visited The Kingscote Barn before Sasha and Jack’s wedding, which helped us understand the space and plan how their installation and changeover would work.
