What is a Living Plant Chandelier?
Our living plant chandeliers are suspended installations featuring real potted plants, trailing foliage and decorative elements arranged on a handcrafted hanging structure.
Unlike traditional floral chandeliers, our plants remain alive throughout the event and continue growing long after your wedding day.
Each chandelier is suspended safely above dance floors, ceremony spaces, dining areas or chill-out zones, creating an immersive botanical experience without relying on cut flowers or disposable décor.
Why Are Our Plant Chandeliers More Sustainable Than Floral Chandeliers?
At Botanical Weddings we offer couples a genuinely eco-friendly alternative to traditional wedding décor.
Traditional floral chandeliers can be absolutely beautiful, but many are designed for a single day’s use and often rely on materials that cannot be reused afterwards. Many floral chandeliers are created using:
- Large quantities of cut foliage
- Cut ivy and trailing greenery
- Floral foam (which contains microplastics)
- Single-use mechanics and fixings
- Imported flowers with significant transport emissions
Whilst beautiful, much of this material is often used for a single day before being composted or discarded. Whilst flowers are a natural product, growing, transporting and conditioning them requires significant resources. By choosing décor that can be reused again and again, couples can help reduce waste and maximise the lifespan of the materials used throughout their wedding.
Our Approach Is Different
Real Living Plants
Every fern, pothos, ivy, bird’s nest fern and tropical plant remains in its pot throughout the wedding day.
Nothing is cut and nothing is thrown away afterwards.
Instead, the plants return to our collection where they continue growing and are reused for future weddings, commercial installations, workshops and events. This allows us to create beautiful wedding styling whilst giving our plants a life far beyond a single celebration.

Reusable Handcrafted Structures
Every chandelier structure has been handcrafted by Alex, our in-house builder (and resident handyman!).
The wooden rings have been designed specifically for repeated use and engineered to safely support living plants whilst maintaining a natural, elegant appearance.
Rather than creating something for a single event, we’ve invested in structures that can be used again and again, helping to reduce waste whilst ensuring every installation looks just as beautiful as the last.
No Floral Foam
We never use floral foam in our installations.
This helps reduce waste and avoids the microplastic pollution associated with traditional floral mechanics, whilst still allowing us to create full, impactful hanging displays.
Lower-Waste Wedding Styling
By combining reusable structures with living plants, we’re able to dramatically reduce the amount of wedding décor that ends up in landfill after an event.
